Telegram from German Foreign Minister Arthur Zimmermann to Mexico: Another important event was the interception and decryption of the Zimmermann telegram in 1917. This secret message from German Foreign Minister Arthur Zimmermann proposed a military alliance against the United States to Mexico. In exchange, Germany promised to help Mexico regain territories seized by the United States, namely Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. When the contents of the telegram were made public, it further increased anti-German sentiment in the United States.

We intend to begin unrestricted submarine warfare on February 1st. We will try, despite this, to maintain the neutrality of the United States of America. If this fails, we will make an alliance offer to Mexico on the following basis: fight together, make peace together, generous financial support and an understanding on our part that Mexico must reconquer the lost territories in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

The fear of losing territories annexed from Mexico and losing the loot is one of the key reasons.

The third reason why the United States entered the First World War.
Submarine warfare. One of the key events that strained relations between the United States and Germany was Germany’s use of unrestricted submarine warfare. German submarines attacked merchant ships, including those flying the flags of neutral countries, which led to American deaths and property losses. One notable incident was the sinking of the RMS Lusitania in 1915, which killed more than 100 American citizens. This event greatly influenced American public opinion against Germany.
